What is LED Lighting?
Light Emitting Diode has been around for years. They have been used as an indicator or a display light in various of technical instruments, for example digital watches, VCRs, calculators.
How bright are led light bulbs?
Led bulbs available for standard fixtures vary in brightness from less than 50 lumens up to about 1000 lumens. The brightest uses 13 watts and produces as much light to a 100-watt incandescent.
How efficient are led bulbs compared to incandescent bulbs?
Most led light bulbs are four to five times as efficient as incandescent bulbs. They use only 20% to 24% as much electricity to produce the same amount of light. The latest editions of leds are eight to ten times as efficient as incandescent bulbs.
How long does it take for a led to achieve full brightness?
Led lights always start at full brightness.
Does led lighting contain mercury?
Led lighting contains no mercury or other dangerous substances. Fluorescent lights contain mercury and must be treated as hazardous waste.
Does led lighting produce any ultraviolet (UV) light?
Led lights emit no damaging ultraviolet light, so they will not cause fading or aging of any sensitive materials.
What is the Life Span of a LED light bulb?
Led bulbs can operate for 60,000 hours or more. One led lightbulb can easily outlast 60 incandescent bulbs, or 12 compact fluorescents. Led light bulbs can last 20 years or more, if they are being used for an 8 hours a day.
How safe is led lighting?
Led bulbs operate at much colder temperatures. Incandescent and halogen lights are hot enough to cause a fire, and they most often do.
What does PAR mean?
Parabolic Aluminized Reflector, which is also a unit of bulb measurement. In this system of lap identification, the first number listed denotes the maximum diameter of the lamp expressed as a number of 1/8's of an inch. All of our bulbs currently are "medium" or "Edison" base; which means they will fit into most sockets in the US.
